Katy Breheny

Hi everyone. My name is Katy Breheny and I am excited to be a Kaitūhono/Connector in the Mana Whaikaha Enabling Good Lives Team.

A bit about myself. I am a mum of three kids – one has left home and is flatting and two are still at primary school. My family and I live in Palmerston North.

I have personal and family experience of disability, especially the autism spectrum. I also have a good understanding of the impact of a wide range of disabilities, from past learning and previous roles.

I have a strong belief that every person should be confident to live a life that is enjoyable for them and that brings them satisfaction. This could be whatever the person decides – work, study, friendships or having fun.

My hobbies are writing, walking in Palmy parks and finding Palmy Rocks, bargain hunting, playing with my kids, going out for tea and going to movies.

I have worked a lot with people living in community homes and am happy to continue to work in this area. I also have an interest in helping people to gain confidence to get out and about in their community. I enjoy working with people of all ages. I know that getting a job is a very important goal for many and would like to support people to explore this.

I look forward to meeting you!
