Mana Whaikaha update December 18
The prototype for supporting disabled people and whanau in the MidCentral region has been operating since 1 October this year.
Since this time many disabled people and whānau have made contact with Mana Whaikaha wanting to explore how the new prototype can support them. Whilst the number of people coming forward is positive the high numbers in the first eight weeks is putting some pressure on a new system whilst everyone is still trying to find their feet.
This pressure is being seen in the high demand facing the Connectors. We have put in place a number of interim measures including making sure that everyone who makes contact with Mana Whaikaha is had a chance to talk to a team member within two days. We will also check in with people regularly who may still be waiting for a Connector.
The outcomes for disabled people or whānau is paramount and everyone that works with Mana Whaikaha is committed to creating the best possible experience for Disabled people and Whanau.
If you have any concerns or if your situation changes for whatever reason please make contact with Mana Whaikaha immediately.
