An Independent Life - Featuring Aron

Approximate reading time: 1 minute

Aron is starting to make his own decisions and building his confidence to create the independent life he chooses.

Aron lives in Palmerston North, and his family all live in the Manawatū.

He lives independently with a group of flatmates.

Since early 2019 Aron has been doing a paper run. In the beginning, Aron had a support person to walk with him while he was delivering the papers, however, it wasn't long before he was able to show his support person that he could do the paper run on his own.

It was a great achievement for Aron to be able to do the paper run on his own and he was very proud when he told his Mana Whaikaha Kaitūhono/Connector about this.

Also, recently as a result of doing the paper run on his own, he approached the local second-hand store on his route to see if they needed any workers. Now he volunteers at the store and helps to keep it organised and tidy.

He is starting to make his own decisions and building his confidence to create the life he chooses.

Aron is a really friendly guy that loves meeting people and chatting, so if you see him out and about on his paper run, stop and say hi.

Aron used to need supports, now he's living an independent life.
